Smooth

I love the beggining of this, I really like this style. Kind of like a classical- hip hop fusion type sound. Around 1:05 I dont really like that, I dont feel much of a transition, but I love the section! haha. Really a nice job, Im surprised there aren't more comments on this.

Wow

This is a fun listen. Im not really in a position to judge this type of music though. however, I can say I really like listening to it. Are these real recorded voices? Or did you use a program? either way they sound great. I could see a choir group doing something like this, I love it.

it a program saddly D,: it call jampack Voices for garageband and logic (studio or express)

Hmmm

Nice intro, its soft and beautiful like almost every single submission on here, but it has an emotion attached that most composers on this site fail to invoke. Lots of expression in the plucked string solos. Moving into a new section, it fit perfectly with the intro, I like the low brass and timpani and how its fading in and out. That solo instrument is georgous, just by the way. Ok, I can see where you are going, reiterating the first statement, but inside im kind of hoping for a build up or something new, I feel like its taking just a hair too long. I think thats a pretty common way authors lose the interest of their listeners, is without enough transition. Alright we made a transition, but its back to the low brass and timpani once again. This piece is beautiful, but in every beautiful piece there is at least one huge moment. One of those moments where the listeners began to feel sad, that moment that births tears, that one moment that makes the listener wish he or she had listened to nothing else ever in their lives, because the one thing they're listening to at that one moment is so beautiful, they feel like they've never known music. I never once got that feeling, and in a piece as well written as this, one of those sections is absolutely necessary. Everything about this piece is beautiful, and executed perfectly, it's just not as elaborated as one might hope.

BrokenDeck responds:

Perhaps you were thinking of a crescendo. You're right, there wasn't really a big "buildup" near the end.

Beautiful

Nice into, but I feel like that crescendo could have been more spread out, it got really loud too quick, and thats not always a bad thing but I didn't like it in this situation. All of the instruments are blending beautifully. But that first solo, i think it was an oboe, felt a little out of place. I love the fact you paused before taking it to the next section, and it sounds great, but I almost thought I was listening to another song for a second, the transition wasnt terrible but not ideal either. Beautiful solo, lots of room for expression, and I love that. Nice suspended chords, it sounds great. Again another well written solo, lots of room for expression. I like how it's starting to build back up, but then I become dissapointed with the ending. You've got this huge melody line going, you're introducing a few new instruments and then abruptly it gets cut off. The chimes in the end are nice, but I would love to hear a more developed ending.

Plasmatic responds:

Very helpful, thanks for taking the time to write a review. It does kind of jump all over the place. I like the middle sections of the different themes but I'm still learning how to end my pieces.

Finally

Finally. A piece with a classical feel, in the classical section. This is beautiful.

BrokenDeck responds:

Thanks! :D

Sounds good.

You know, it sounds good, of course. Thats why its excelling. But to me, this isnt really what classical music is about. And i hate that newgrounds doesnt have more subgenres because to be honest with you, Im always dissapointed with the submissions in the classical section. I want to hear some classical music.

FlaggedOnArrival responds:

I completely agree with you on some points, but technically orchestral music is classical as well.

Goodness

What in the world is that solo instrument supposed to be around 1:00. It sounds absolutely awful lol. The songs nice, but it's 6 minutes long, and I begin losing insterest at like 2 minutes. However, I will sit through this entire thing for the sake of this review. I do like that you keep reintroducing the main melody, but theres not a whole lot of variation between each one. At 4, after that break, its niec and calm, and I like that transition. But its kind of boring, Its piano, and then that same solo instrument. Im gonna take a guess and say its a violin or some sort..? I think that with this length of a song it has to have some depth. It keeps going back to the piano solo, you have a whole orchestra to work with, switch it up a bit.

LynnKavki responds:

Thanks for the review, and I agree with everything you said xD And yeah, my violin sound got absolutely slaughtered. (although none of the sounds I have are very good to begin with) I think my worst fail in this one was dragging it on so long. I really appreciate critique though.

Hmmmm

When I hear piano solo's, I always expect something amazing. Theres a guy on here who mass produces piano solos, they all sound similar, they are all crap. This is much better than a mass produced song, especially near the end. You know I was actually going to write a really bad review until I heard that ending. Its catchy, its beauty, its amazing. But I dont care much for the beginning, especially not the first time. I feel like its repetitive, and I feel like I could be watching an allstate insurance commercial right now. It just feels repetitve, and its catchy, but its not the kind of catchy I want to hear in the classical section. However like I said, as the song progresses it gets better and better, and I really enjoy the piece nearer to the end.

CardboardowI responds:

I was most worried about it feeling repetitive because of the baseline intro, but I think that some people appreciate a slow start with this style of music.

And to tell the truth, this really isn't classical at all, i just didnt really know what to put it under, i generally like to write things for movies and games and such.

Then ending is my favorite too :D

Pretty

But at 1:03 on that roll, you should of added some more percussion. I mean you could of made a really really powerful statement and you could of done so much more with the percussion there. I think that the music is nice but i think that the percussion is really lacking :\ and i dont feel like it adds up to the intensity of the rest of the piece. But i do like this alot.

Rottenbeard responds:

I agree the percussion is lacking. I actually wanted that roll to be longer, and im pretty sure it WAS longer at some point and I think i ended up cutting it down by accident and then not noticing when going over the song in the mastering process. At any rate, i'm not too good with orchestral style percussion, it's something i'm picking up slowly, I don't do much music in this particular style so it's a new experience for me, I want to get better at it though. I'd love to get some of the more explosive orchestral setups you hear by guys such as Danny Elfman or Clint Mansell, or especially some of the stuff composed by the guys at ImmediateMusic.

Anyways, I appreciate the constructive feedback Lightningpichu, thanks!

Regards,
Daniel

Awesome

This reminds me alot of runescape. The style of it is alot like runescape music. I love this song though, its beautiful, and then it transforms into a more powerful composition. I love the title. Revenge of a broken heart, that descibes this song perfectly :P

Sci-Fi responds:
